Jakob Böhme was one of the greatest and sadly most short-lived Fenno-Swedish punk bands in their active time around 2010-ish. Their cocky, sweaty, adrenaline-fueled brand of Helsinki-punk was only ever released on the ZXC compilation.

Fun story: Jakob Böhme was a German philosopher, and upon interviewing the band for my blog after a gig at legendary shithole Factory in Helsinki, I read up on his philosophy. When asking about how Böhme’s theories inspired the band, I was met with blank stares: “We have no fucking clue what you’re talking about. The name was Arvi’s idea!”. Arvi Särkelä, frontman of the brilliant punk band Dom andra, had founded Jakob Böhme and then moved to Frankfurt to study philosophy before they even had a single gig. I saw the band twice in their short career and still consider the shows among the best live performances I have ever experienced.
